eRoom at the Institute for Social Research:

Welcome to ISR's new eRoom server! If this is your first time logging in, please see the information below.

Login to eRoom!

Logging Into eRoom:
NEW! If you are an internal ISR user, your login/password to eRoom is the same as your Windows/Outlook credentials. You must be given explicit rights and a license to use eRoom. If you are having trouble logging in, please contact the coordinator for your eRoom(s). Or for general assistance, send an email to: eRoomAdmin@isr.umich.edu.

Changing Your Password:
If you are an internal ISR user, your password is your Windows/Outlook password so you cannot change it directly in eRoom. Contact ISR/SRC Computing if you are unfamiliar with changing your Windows password.
If you are an external user, you can change your password by clicking on the [my member info] button on the main "My eRooms" page. Then on your "Member Information" page, click on the [change password] button.

New eRoom Plug-In Software:
The first time you login to eRoom, you will be asked if you want to use the "eRoom plug-in software" or "just the web browser." In general, we recommend using the plugin software unless you are logging into eRoom on a shared or public workstation. If you later change your mind about the plug-in software, from the main "My eRooms" page, click on the [my member info] button to view your information, then check/uncheck the "Use eRoom plug-in software" option.

If you need to install the plug-in software manually, click here to download the setup program.

Removing the Old eRoom Software:
If you used ISR's eRoom before September 2006, you probably have an old version of the eRoom client installed on your computer. While the old eRoom 6 client and the new eRoom 7 client can co-exist happily on the same computer, you will probably want to take the time to uninstall the old eRoom 6 client. (When running, the old eRoom software shows up as a big red "e" in your taskbar. The new eRoom software has a blue/black icon, as shown below.)

To uninstall the old eRoom software:

  1. Check your taskbar to see if the old eRoom monitor is running. If you see the big red "e", right-click on it and choose "Exit."

  2. Go to the "Control Panel" -> "Add or Remove Programs." Find the entry for "eRoom 6," highlight it, and press the [Change/Remove] button. When asked if you are sure, say "Yes."
